Building a Stronger Western Australian Community through Sport & Active Recreation.

The value of sport to the long-term prosperity of Western Australia is significant and for the true potential to be realised, it requires all levels of government, the WA Sport Industry and stakeholders to work in collaboration to ensure its ongoing viability and success.

SportWest, in consultation with its members and other stakeholders, has developed this document of policy positions on behalf of the WA Sport Industry. It is imperative that Government has a clear picture on what the sector believes are the key priorities for WA sport, and collectively work with sport to address these key challenges. These positions were developed by the industry, for the industry.

These priorities are aimed at creating stronger, thriving communities in Western Australia where everyone has a place in sport and active recreation. It is about giving sport the best chance to create community benefit, whilst delivering on increased participation, financial security for sport and to make life easier for sporting administrators and volunteers from the grassroots up.

With Sport contributing $10.3B annually to the Western Australian community in benefits, we strongly believe with commitment from all levels of government to our policy positions, this will allow us to promote the value of sport more broadly and deliver more programs for West Australians to get involved in and stay involved in sport right across their life.
