Kickstart your journey in the sport industry at SportWest’s Early Career Connect, a relaxed networking event designed for young people and emerging professionals across WA sport. Whether you’re newly graduated, transitioning from coaching or volunteering or stepping into your first full‑time sport industry role, this event is your opportunity to build meaningful connections and gain insights that will shape your future in sport.

Guest Speakers

Adam Popham:
Adam is an Inclusion and Diversity specialist who’s all about making sport more welcoming for everyone. He currently works as a Pathways Specialist with Paralympics Australia and sits on the Swimming WA Board, helping shape inclusive pathways across the state. Before that, he spent over six years with Inclusion Solutions, leading projects that supported sporting clubs, schools and state organisations to be more accessible and inclusive. Adam also contributes to SportWest’s Voices of Children and Young People Advisory Group, where he helps champion the perspectives of young people in sport.

Troy Kirkham:
Troy is the CEO of SportWest and a long‑time champion of community sport in WA. Before joining SportWest in 2024, he spent nearly two decades with the West Australian Football Commission (now WA Football) leading game development and community programs. He was named WA Sports Administrator of the Year in 2023, and he’s also a Churchill Fellow who travelled internationally to explore how to keep young people engaged in sport. Troy’s all about creating positive, inclusive sporting environments and helping communities stay connected through participation.

Kimberley Wynhorst:
Kimberley is a sport industry professional currently serving as the Governance and Projects Manager at WA Football. She brings experience across government, consultancy and sport, including roles with CITS (formerly Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries) and KPMG, and is active in leadership development through programs such as SportWest’s Women of Sport Emerging Leaders Program.
