SportWest has engaged the Australian Institute of Management Western Australia (AIM WA) to provide a professional development opportunity to current and emerging managers within sport. AIM WA is a social impact organisation dedicated to enhancing workplace performance and leadership development across the Western Australian region.

The program will have an emphasis on practical management skills across key areas such as project management, financial management, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. The cohort will be all professionals from the sport industry, providing the opportunity to discuss and learn with your peers in the sporting context.

Delivered over three days, face to face, the course offers a unique opportunity to explore effective people management, self management and managing the performance of others. Providing leadership training for new leaders, it introduces you to the practical tools, strategies and skills you’ll need to succeed as a leader in the management role.

This course is designed to improve and develop the management style and skills of new managers or others in line for management responsibilities. With a wide variety and volume of content covered in a short period of time, it offers a unique opportunity for new managers or team leaders to enhance leadership skills, learn how to efficiently manage a team and explore the fundamentals of self management.

Additional to the core interpersonal skills, the course also covers managing performance, conflict, and change. You’ll leave with practical tools and strategies to implement in your workplace, which assists with achieving individual goals and the goals of your organisation.

You will be able to understand the key components that contribute to the success of a new manager, while exploring goal setting, time management and the prioritisation needed to meet work demands.

This Program is proudly delivered in partnership with the WA Government.
