Local Sporting Stars | Congratulations Cassandra and Kelly

We’re proud to announce Cassandra Matsumoto and Kelly Osborne as this fortnights recipients of the WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program.

Cassandra Matsumomto is a driving force behind the Broome basketball community, contributing across multiple roles with dedication and passion. From coaching Aussie Hoops to supporting junior and senior competitions, she plays a key role in developing players at every level. As Games Coordinator, she manages competition scheduling, while also leading referee coordination and supporting representative teams as Team Manager and Communications Lead ahead of the 2026 Country Championships.

Kelly Osborne is the engine behind the Mt Barker Barracudas, known for her commitment to getting things done. A dedicated committee member for four years, Kelly leads communications, supports new members, writes grants and represents the club across regional and state forums. As a qualified Technical Official, she gives countless hours to training and competition delivery.

The WA Local Sporting Stars Volunteer Recognition Program celebrates a broad range of volunteer contributions, including youth leadership, long-standing service, inclusive participation, innovation and all-round support within sporting communities.

Nominations for future recipients remain open, with winners selected by a dedicated panel throughout the program. Community members are encouraged to nominate the volunteers who make a difference in their local clubs and help keep sport strong across Western Australia. Recognise your Volunteers here.
