Creating safe, respectful and welcoming environments is essential across sport and recreation. As part of the True Sport Cultural Education Initiative, supported by the WA State Government, this webinar will support State Sporting Associations (SSAs) and clubs to understand, adopt and confidently implement the Racial Discrimination and Vilification Policy in practical and meaningful ways.
Facilitated by Iain Roy, CEO of Sports Integrity and Governance Partners Australia (SIGPA), this webinar draws on Iain’s extensive experience in sport integrity and governance. Iain played a key role in developing the Racial Discrimination Policies and accompanying toolkit, bringing valuable insight into both the intent of the policy and its real‑world application.
Participants will gain a clear overview of:
- Why the policy is necessary, including common questions and scenarios raised by clubs and sporting organisations
- What constitutes racial discrimination and vilification, and how these behaviours can present in sporting settings
- Who the policy applies to, and the rights and responsibilities of individuals and organisations
- What happens when breaches occur, including expectations and consequences
The webinar will also step through practical implementation, including:
- How to formally endorse and adopt the policy
- Clear complaints and reporting pathways
- Best‑practice approaches to embedding the policy within your organisation or club culture
The session will conclude with questions and next steps, including where to access supporting resources and how to connect with SportWest for ongoing guidance and support.
This webinar is ideal for administrators, club officials, board members and anyone involved in creating inclusive, respectful sporting environments.
