SportWest is pleased to offer a Youth Mental Health First Aid Course to our members!
This two-day, face‑to‑face course is designed for anyone working with or supporting young people, particularly within sporting and community environments. Facilitated by Happiness Co, the training builds confidence and practical skills to recognise when a young person may be experiencing a mental health challenge and how to respond appropriately.
Participants will learn how to:
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health challenges in young people
- Understand risk factors and protective factors related to youth mental health
- Provide initial support using a clear, evidence-based action plan A.L.G.E.E
- Respond in a crisis situation until professional help is available
- Reduce stigma and support positive mental health conversations
This course is ideal for coaches, volunteers, administrators and staff working in sport with young people.
Places are limited and available to SportWest members only at a discounted rate, so early registration is encouraged.
Participants must attend both days to receive accreditation.
