Troy Kirkham

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Troy joined SportWest as CEO in July 2024, after working in Australian Rules Football with the West Australian Football Commission for 19 years, with the last 7 years leading the Game Development and Community space as the Executive Manager. As an experienced sports administrator, Troy has a passion for community sport, and the wider societal benefits that it can provide. Troy has also worked through the education sector as a Deputy Principal and Teacher across both metro and regional WA, often dealing with at risk youth, before making the shift into the sports industry. In 2023 Troy was awarded the WA Sports Administrator of the Year.

In 2016, Troy had the opportunity to travel internationally for 3 months after being awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship, to research innovative and inclusive retention strategies for youth participants in community sport. Meeting with internationally renowned experts in youth sports, along with organisations including the NFL, The FA and Rugby England. This helped to reinforce to Troy the importance of community sport in creating connected communities.

Troy has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education and has also completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Foundations of Governance course and the Australian Institute of Management WA (AIMWA) Executive Development Course & Diploma. Troy also sits on the West Australian Concussion Network (WACN) as a community sport representative.

Matt Bamford

MEMBER & PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER

Matt joined SportWest in February 2016. He was employed in touch football for 20 years – first as a community club administrator, through a development role for eight years, a state manager, before becoming part of Touch Football Australia’s senior leadership team for seven years. In that time, Matt oversaw staff across much of Australia and also played a key role in significant management and governance change in WA and nationally.

Matt graduated from the University of Canberra with a degree in Sports Administration and Sports Media, and followed this with a period working as the Capital Football (Soccer) Junior League Administrator in Canberra, with experience in sports management and delivery since 1995.  He also did a practicum placement with Swimming Australia during his final year at University.

Bronte Vause

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Bronte commenced with SportWest in September 2022, as Marketing and Events Manager.

Bronte has a Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Event Management with Minors in Marketing and Graphic Design. She has been working in the Sports Industry in the Marketing and Events field for the past 6 years. Bronte’s enthusiasm for sports and her passion for creativity fuel her dedication to creating dynamic events and compelling marketing campaigns.

Hannah Lawton

EVENTS MANAGER

Hannah has been working in the sporting sector since 2017. Her sporting administration roles extend to Club Development, Membership, Community Participation and Event Management.
 
Hannah joined the Sport West team in December 2023, and together with her passion for sports and a flair for planning memorable experiences, she is the driving force behind the events team at SportWest. Hannah holds a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management and as the Events Manager, she brings a unique blend of creativity and a keen eye for detail to every project she undertakes.
 
In her spare time Hannah loves waterskiing and mountain biking.

Phoebe Brown

TRUE SPORT PROJECT COORDINATOR

Phoebe has spent the last 10 years combining her passion for Events Management, Administration & Public Relations in the Tourism and Mining Sectors. Phoebe completed a Bachelor of Communications: Major in Public Relations, Minor in Mass Communications & English. After 6-year stint in Melbourne working in events, she made the move back to the West Coast. Phoebe can be found swimming or kicking the footy in her free time and is always keen for a chat.

Michelle Hort

WOMEN OF SPORT NETWORK PROJECT COORDINATOR

Michelle is an accomplished Senior Marketing Manager with over 25 years’ experience across multiple industries. With a strong passion for sports, Michelle brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role of Project Coordinator at SportWest. Michelle has a solid foundation in services marketing and outstanding performance in brand development, promotions, membership marketing, event management and stakeholder engagement.

Eager to contribute her skills and experience to the Women of Sport Network, Michelle is enthusiastic about the opportunity to further the experiences of Women working in the WA Sports Industry.

Callum Warner

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS & CAPABILITY MANAGER

Callum joined SportWest in March 2025. He brings a blend of experience across the industry, having worked for state government, state sporting organisations, local government and the private sector in Western Australia, as well as working in universities both in Australia and Canada.
 
Callum graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Science (Exercise & Health) and a Graduate Diploma of Sport & Recreation Management. He was involved with Australian Rules football as a player, coach, volunteer and administrator for 25 years and now is an avid cyclist who loves the bush.

Jasmine Cappellucci

TRUE SPORT MANAGER

Jasmine has over 15 years’ experience in the sport and recreation industry in WA, most notably with the Perth Wildcats and West Coast Eagles leading high-performing commercial and marketing teams. Jasmine holds a post-graduate degree in business management and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration. Jasmine is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Certificate of Governance for Not-For-Profits from the Governance Institute of Australia. Jasmine has strong sporting sector experience including executive and board committee roles at State Sporting Associations; professional sporting teams and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. She is skilled in commercial and community partnerships, contractual management, marketing strategy and execution, advertising, brand, corporate governance and project management. Her passion for the industry has seen her play, coach and officiate at state and competitive levels across a number of sports. Jasmine is also a Board Director for WA All Abilities Football Association and volunteers on the Governance and Nominations Board Committee for Gymnastics WA.

Rebekah Yeow

TRUE SPORT PROJECT OFFICER

Rebekah has a strong background in sport administration, with experience in community engagement, club development, and inclusion initiatives. Having worked in member and participation-focused roles at UWA Sport and Hockey WA, she is passionate about connecting with people over a shared love for sport and recreation. Rebekah completed her tertiary studies at the University of Western Australia in 2019, earning a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science and Exercise & Health.
 
As the True Sport Project Officer at SportWest, Rebekah is committed to supporting clubs, associations, and State Sporting Associations in fostering positive and values-driven sporting environments. She works closely with members to promote and implement True Sport initiatives, providing guidance, resources, and education to help build safe, fun, and welcoming sporting experiences for all. Through collaboration and engagement, she aims to strengthen club culture, enhance participation, and drive long-term sustainability within the sporting community.
