First awarded in 1978, previous winners of the award include Neil Brooks, Glen Jakovich, Allana Slater, Samantha Kerr and Minjee Lee.

To be eligible, nominees may be of any underage restriction as defined by the sport but must be 18 years or under during the nomination period.
