Up-and-coming swimmer Iona Anderson has been selected as the April 2022 rebel sport Community Sport Champion of the Month.

At the recent 2022 Australian Age Swimming Championships, Anderson accomplished a rare trifecta taking out three gold medals across the 16-year-old girls 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events. She is now the fastest 16-year-old across all three events in Australia.

Anderson returned as WA’s most successful athlete from the championships. She competed in a total of eight events for the three gold medals and a bronze as a part of the relay team in the mixed 16-17 years 4×50 medley relay.

As a result of her performances, she secured a position on Swimming Australia’s National Flippers Squad.
