Healthway has extended its partnership with the SportWest Awards supporting the Healthy Club Award category for a further two years.
The Healthway Healthy Club Award recognises a sporting club who is leading the way in delivering initiatives to improve the health of its members and the broader community.
To further healthy initiatives in their communities, the three finalists will receive $1,000 and the winner, announced at the SportWest Awards in February, will take home an additional $2,000.
SportWest Chief Executive Officer Matt Fulton said the partnership extension would continue to build on the foundations of the healthy club message.
“There is no doubt community sporting clubs are getting better in this space and we believe that this award will continue to encourage community clubs to reflect on and make changes to their programs,” Mr Fulton said.
“We have seen past winners make fairly simple changes around food offerings and educating their members about healthy options, and the benefits have been noticed both on and off the field.
“This award is not solely focused on healthy eating and drinking choices, but also what clubs are doing to motivate and inspire members to proactively take care of their mental health.”
Healthway Executive Director Julia Knapton said Healthway is proud to support WA’s premier sport awards for a further two years.
“Sport clubs provides the ideal opportunity to positively impact their community’s health and wellbeing, and it is important they are recognised for the strategies they put in place to create a healthy environment for members,” Ms Knapton said.
Nominations for the Healthway Healthy Club Award are now open and close at 5pm on 30 November 2021.
Nominations can be made via the Nomination Portal on the SportWest website
