Congratulations to Laura Archer for being awarded the Rebel Community Sport Champion for the Month of August!
Laura was nominated for the award by Hockey WA for her hard work and dedication to the sport of Hockey. Laura has been the key driver in the National Country Challenge’s organisation in the 2022 event hosted in Albany earlier this month. As a Board Member of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association, she was nominated as the coordinator for the Hockey Australia run event back in 2019 for the event, but due to COVID, she occupied that role right up until 2022.
Laura has worked tirelessly to coordinate stakeholders, including first aid, local media, the City of Albany, etc., set up clinics and coaching courses for the community, assist with the venue fit-out, organised volunteers, and obtain local sponsorship to help support the event. Her magnificent work off the field is all the more impressive as she is the WA Country Women’s Captain for the same tournament.
Simply put, without Laura, this tournament would not have been possible.
