Following the SportWest Annual General Meeting on Monday 27 November 2023, we are pleased to announce the election of one (1) new Board Member, the re-election of one (1) Board Member, and the appointment of one (1) appointed director.
Members of the Association had the opportunity to vote to fill two (2) elected Board vacancies. The two candidates selected were Sophie Row and Nicolle Jenkins
Sophie Row – Re-Elected Board Member
Previous Board Member of SportWest, Triathlon WA and Volleyball WA
CEO of Swimming WA and previous EO of Masters Swimming WA
Sophie possesses an MBA and is a Member of the AICD and AIM WA and has over 30 years of marketing and business management experience, with over 15 years in marketing strategy, planning, communications and branding and16 years in sports administration. This professional experience combined with an active involvement in many sports through her own personal participation and volunteering in a variety of roles, brings a unique set of skills and experience to the board.
Nicolle Jenkins – Elected Board Member
Managing Director of The Hub Marketing Communication
Immediate Past President and current Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIWA) and Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). Nicolle has significant experience working and volunteering with sporting organisations including Surf Life Saving WA & Qld, swimming, triathlon, sailing, cycling, UWA Little Athletics, and baseball. She held an international media position at the 2000 Olympic Games for the International Softball Federation (USA). Nicolle was also Chief Reporter for The Courier-Mail Women in Sport lift-out and surf reporter for the ABC radio in Brisbane.
Liam Twigger – Appointed Board Member
Liam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board as the current Deputy Chair of WA based investment banking, stockbroking and funds management business, Argonaut Limited and Chair of ASX listed Lunnon Metals. Liam was appointed to the board of Football West in December 2008 and elected chair in 2013 until 2022. Liam has over 30 years’ experience in the fields of investment banking and corporate finance and was the head of Macquarie Bank and Bankers Trust Investment Bank in Perth. He was also a WA State League soccer player and a state representative at both senior and junior levels.
In line with the constitution, the Chair is elected by the members of the Board at the First board meeting post the AGM, which is scheduled for 11th December 2023.
