SportWest Awards 2022 | Healthway Healthy Club Award

The Healthway Healthy Club Award aligns with Healthway’s commitment to improving the health of all West Australians. The Award recognises a sporting club who is leading the way in delivering initiatives to improve the health of its members and the broader community.

The finalists for this year’s Healthway Healthy Club Award are; Ports Football Club (Australian Rules Football), Wanneroo Horse & Pony Club (Equestrian) and Mirrabooka Squash Club (Squash).

Ports Football Club in Esperance have led an extensive range of mental health awareness and promotional activities throughout the 2022 Football season. These promotional activities aimed to raise awareness of mental health, reduce stigma (self and social) related to mental health and change behaviours around actions associated with mental health in the local football community.

Wanneroo Horse and Pony club have spent the 2022 season actively engaging with their members and families promoting the Go for 2&5 message and brand. With empathies on the inclusion of healthy cooking activities at their rallies, members continue to learn not only the traffic light system but lots of nutritional values.

For several years, the Mirrabooka Squash Club has strived towards reducing unhealthy food and drink options at event canteens. After successfully applying for Fuel to Go & Play funding, the Club purchased a display fridge, bain-marie and menu boards to enhance their ability to showcase better options to players and spectators.

The winner of the Healthway Healthy Club Award will be announced at the SportWest Awards on 23 February at Optus Stadium. SportWest invites all Members to join us in what will be an incredible night celebrating the achievement of these incredible Sport Administrators.
