• An officially recognised State team or WA-based team competing at a national level.
• A team representing Australia comprised solely of athletes eligible in either the Sports Star or Junior Sports Star categories.
• A team registered and based in a WA club e.g. 1983 America’s Cup crew.

The primary consideration in assessing nominees will be performance in sanctioned competition. Consideration will be given to the following:

• The level of each performance relative to international standards and rankings;
• The level of competition e.g. regional, national, international;
• The sport’s restriction at international level e.g. Australian football;
• The cultural significance of the sport to Australia; and
• Its status within Australia and internationally

To be eligible for nomination in the WA Sport Awards, nominees must be endorsed by a SportWest Member Organisation using the official endorsement form provided.
