City of Swan become first LGA to take out SportWest Membership

The City of Swan has become the first Local Government in WA to activate SportWest Membership this month, with the City of Swan staff looking to new ways to develop their people and strengthening the connection between the LGA and community sport in the state.

SportWest Member & Partnerships Manager Matt Bamford was excited to see the City of Swan join as a new Member given the integral role of Local Government in maintaining community sport facilities and the value a range of new initiatives from SportWest are presenting value.

“We know that sport in the community in many cases occurs through facilities and spaces maintained by Local Government Authorities across Western Australia. It’s been great to have a growing attendance of LGA staff at various SportWest events, workshops and meetings recently”, said Bamford.

City of Swan Club Development Officer Samantha Gulliver dropped in to meet the SportWest team this week and is excited at the opportunity for the City to engage as a SportWest Member with the broader community.

“We’ve been looking forward to attending a number of planned events SportWest will be delivering including the True Sport Conference on 11 June. Having the City of Swan join as a Member represents great value to develop our people and their connection with WA sport”, she said.

The City of Swan have activated their membership as SportWest prepares to introduce a revised member structure following an extended consultation and review process.
