Nominations for Western Australia’s premier sports awards, are now open! 

The WA Sport Awards are Western Australia’s premier sports awards and enable the community to recognise excellence in sport and celebrate the achievements across all levels of the WA Sports Industry.

The most iconic sporting award that a West Australian athlete can win is the WA Sport Star Award. It’s a prestigious list of West Australia’s outstanding sportspeople who have won this award since it was first presented to hockey player Morna Pearce in 1956.  WA sporting greats including Dennis Lillee, Ric Charlesworth, Luc Longley, Justin Langer, Samantha Kerr and Nathan Fyfe are all prominent among the past winners, while cyclist Jai Hindley became a two-time WA Sports Star after his Giro d’Italia win in 2022.

  • rebel WA Junior Sports Star
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • ActiveXchange Official of the Year
  • Service to Sport – May Campbell Medal
  • Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Sports Administrator of the Year
  • revolutioniseSPORT Community Club of the Year – John Gilmour Medal
  • Healthway Healthy Club of the Year

 

SportWest are pleased to announce that in addition to the above Award Categories, we will be introducing four new Awards to our 2023 Ceremony;

  • RSM Australia Community Sport Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Sporting Event of the Year
  • Sport Initiative of the Year
  • Organisation of the Year

 

SportWest’s Chief Executive Officer, Matt Fulton said the new categories are an important addition to the awards, recognising the hard work for sports administrators and volunteers.

“It is incredibly important that as the Peak Body for Sport that we not only recognise the achievements of Sportspeople, coaches and officials, but also acknowledge the hard work of Sport Administrators” Mr Fulton said.

“The WA Sporting Industry is thriving with a wide range of Community Events, and Initiatives and are integral to the success of our Industry”

Winners will be announced at the WA Sport Awards, at HBF Stadium on Thursday 29 February, 2024. SportWest would like to acknowledge the support of Venue Partner, VenuesWest​.
Nominations close on Monday 20 November, at 5pm, and can be made via the SportWest website.
