On Thursday, 2nd November, SportWest hosted the True Sport Child Safeguarding Forum at Royal Perth Golf Club.
Over 120 representatives from the sporting industry, government agencies and partners attended the Forum. Guests also previewed the True Sport Child Safeguarding resources which have been developed to assist State Sport Associations to navigate, understand and start implementing the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
We would like to formally thank Sandra Harben for performing the Welcome to Country, Lanie Chopping, Director General, DLGSC for her opening address and to all of the outstanding presenters for their time and expertise in their respective areas.
It was a privilege to host Sport Integrity Australia’s Director of Safeguarding, Lisa Purves who provided an insightful presentation on the importance of understanding risk in a child-related setting.
The newly developed True Sport Child Safeguarding resources will be available in the coming weeks via the SportWest website. A link to the resources will be shared with you all and support will be provided to guide utilising the resources via future workshops.
