There’s no place for poor sideline behaviour. Let us Play!

SportWest, the peak industry body for sport in Western Australia, is thrilled to announce the relaunch of its True Sport Sideline Behaviour Marketing Campaign, aimed at promoting positive sportsmanship and respectful behaviour among spectators.

In a world where sportsmanship can sometimes take a backseat to competitiveness, SportWest remains committed to fostering an environment where respect, fairness, and integrity prevail both on and off the field.

Perth Scorchers, Bowler, Andrew Tye says the message is simple – poor behaviour has no place in sport.

“We don’t want to create that sort of behaviour, or that atmosphere, where we’re losing people doing what they want to do, because of somebody else’s behaviour. The importance of players, referees, umpires, administrators, clubs and everyone getting on the same page and really trying to stamp out this behaviour is paramount. We don’t want to lose the next Ricky Ponting, or the next Sam Kerr, just because of bad sideline behaviour. That’s really what this campaign is about.”

The re-launch of the campaign is timely, as we head into the Winter sporting season. By reigniting the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Marketing Campaign, SportWest seeks to address these challenges head-on and promote a culture of positivity and respect within sports.

Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), Executive Director Marcelyn Nicolaou is supportive of the True Sport Message.

“DLGSC proudly supports the True Sport program – it’s a highly valuable initiative designed by industry to enrich the sport experience in WA.

Congratulations to SportWest on the release of this latest package of fantastic resources, which will help ensure a positive and supportive atmosphere on the sidelines for players, umpires, coaches, and volunteers.

“Over the past two years the State Government, through DLGSC, has provided more than $1.2 million in funding, which has supported the development and delivery of these wonderful assets that will benefit our many sporting groups and volunteers.”

On 21 March, 2024, the Western Australian Sport Industry will unite to reshare the True Sport Sideline Behaviour Message, through a coordinated marketing campaign by True Sport Powered by SportWest. True Sport will share a Hero video across its social media platforms, with the WA Sports Industry to share this message on their own social media pages with the hashtag #letusplay.
