SportWest in partnership with rebel Sport recently opened nominations for the Community Sport Champion of the Month. In 2022 this award recognised on-field champions, acknowledging the incredible things they are achieving in their sport. In 2023, SportWest and rebel Sport will be acknowledging both on-field and off-field champions, recognising the incredible contribution Volunteers give to their sport.

SportWest are pleased to announce the first Volunteer Champion for 2023, Alison Watters, nominated by Touch Football WA.

Alison is a member of the State Referee Program Panel which is an advisory panel for referees to Touch Football WA. She also oversees the development and mentoring of the referees program in WA, both metro and regionally.

Alison has also recently been added to the National Touch Football Referee Panel as a referee coach after pursuing and gaining the qualifications and experience over many years. Alison also co-ordinates all the referees and tournament panels for the State based events including Junior & Senior State Championships, North-West & South-West Carnivals, WA Country Championships, plus the elite Super League Series spread throughout the year. In addition still finds time to referee or coach referees at local clubs.
