KidSport vouchers doubled to ease cost of living for families

SportWest are pleased to share that this afternoon, the Premier of Western Australia, Hon. Roger Cook and the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hon. David Templeman announced an increase to the KidSport Program.

The KidSport Program enables eligible Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 years to participate in community sport by offering them financial assistance towards club fees, essential uniforms and equipment. The increase in funding will mean that eligible children will now be able to receive financial assistance of $300 per annum (up from $150 per annum).

This increase in funding provides thousands of children in Western Australia with the opportunity to take part in sport and recreation and encourages them to get active and connect through community sport.

SportWest CEO, Matt Fulton, thanked the Government for their ongoing support of the WA Sporting sector and encourages all Clubs and Children to get involved with KidSport.

“Community sport plays a critical role in communities throughout Western Australia. At an individual level, community sport improves mental and physical health, it helps create social connection, helps develop leadership skills and improve personal wellbeing.”

“Today’s announcement from the Cook Government, is an incredible step forward for Western Australia in reducing barriers to involvement in sport and recreation. On behalf of the sporting sector, I would like to acknowledge the Cook Government and thank them for making sport more accessible to the breadth of our community.”
