Life long commitment to Swimming WA recognised

Tony become the Assistant Records Officer for Swimming WA from 1980 to 1983 and from 1983 to 1986 Tony was promoted to Records Officer. The role of Records Officer is responsible for maintaining and updating all the state records broken across sanctioned meets in WA and is a volunteer role.

Tony’s contribution to Swimming WA extends beyond his role as Records Officer. Previously Tony researched and compiled multi-Class records and can produce results of championships from up to 45 years ago. He is a strong advocate for Colour Pennants and grass roots swimming and designed the Recording Sheets that are still used by all the clubs that are involved in the program. Tony was also involved in the establishment of Swimming WA Qualifying Times and created a workbook that would assist Swimming WA to maintain future State Qualifying Times.

Tony was inducted as a Life Member of Swimming WA in 2009 following over 15 years of service to Swimming WA.

Tony is a true community-minded individual, instrumental in the Kwinana Swimming Club’s operations over five decades, but also within council and other community projects. Tony’s volunteer efforts have seen him awarded numerous accolades over the years. Tony has received Swimming WA’s Volunteer of the Year or Presidents Award a record seven (7) times and honoured with the Australian Sports Medal in 2000/21 as well as the Town of Kwinana Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in a volunteer capacity.

Tony is a well deserving recipient of the rebel Sport Volunteer for the month of May. Thank you for your commitment to Swimming in Western Australia Tony.
